Volunteer awards

Volunteers provide a valuable role in non-profit-organizations. Curling Clubs depend on volunteers to ensure the success of curling events and the operation of their club, whether at the grassroots or the elite level.  
The Southern Alberta Curling Association recognizes and awards deserving individuals at the Annual Awards Night Banquet.

IRL ENGLAND EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR 
The Irl England Executive of the Year Award recognizes outstanding and long-term service to the administration of curling. Irl England was a recreational curler who served in leadership roles at the Southern Alberta Curling Association, Canadian Curling Association and the 1955 Brier in Calgary, AB.  His contributions to curling spanned more than 17 years.
Nominees will have participated in an executive role at the Board level, either at a local, regional or national level.  
Your nomination should list the contributions made by the nominee, the time span over which those contributions were made and why you believe he or she should receive this award.

CURLING PROMOTION AWARD

Curling awareness is important to the success of the sport, especially at the grass roots level. Promoting the sport, either via social media, traditional media or just word of mouth requires interest, commitment and creativity. This award recognizes those individuals who have helped grow the awareness of the sport in the SACA region during the past year.  
Nominees may be any individual who has made such a contribution. They do not have to be active curlers or members of your club.
Your nomination should describe the contributions the nominee has made and why you think he or she should receive this award.

GLENN WATSON OFFICIATING AWARD 

SACA Officials play an integral role in providing guidance to our competitive players. This award goes to a developing Official at Level I, II or III who has the necessary skills to be deemed competent and is willing to take on all required duties throughout a competition. This official has developed a positive relationship with players and is well respected in the Officiating role.

CLUB VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION AWARD

Do you have a person in your club who seems to do everything and anything, making sure things happen for the benefit of your club and it's membership?  Show this person how much you value their efforts by nominating them for this award. SACA will recognize all nominees by publishing their names. Winners will be invited to attend the SACA Annual Awards Banquet.  
Your nomination should describe the contributions the nominee has made and why you think he or she should receive this award.

BARRY MITCHELL INSTRUCTOR AWARD

The Barry Mitchell Instructor Award recognizes one individual who has made a significant contribution to the sport through instruction.
Nominees will have conducted or led instruction sessions during the current season. They will be recognized as having developed a positive, fun learning environment and delivering skilled instruction to their students.
Your nomination should describe how the nominee meets the award criteria and why you believe he or she should receive this award. References from additional individuals supporting the nomination are welcome.

COACH AWARD

The Coach Award recognizes one individual who has made a significant contribution to the sport through coaching. Nominees will hold a recognized coaching certificate and will have coached a competitive team, at any age level, during the current season.  Their team(s) will have demonstrated good sportsmanship, achieved success in competitions and be well respected by other competitors. Nominees will have shown the initiative to develop their coaching skills, through participation in club coach or other coach training programs.
Your nomination should describe how the nominee meets the award criteria and why you believe he or she should receive this award.

INNOVATIVE INITIATIVE AWARD

This award recognizes individuals and clubs that come up with great new ideas that strengthen their club and sthe sport of curling in their community. These innovative ideas might increase membership, improve curler satisfaction, reduce costs, increase efficiencies, etc.  The winner will receive $250 cash for their club to spend in whatever way it chooses, and their story will be shared with other clubs in a SACA publication.  
Your nomination should describe the innovative initiative and the results achieved.
 

SACA HALL OF FAME - reviewed annually January 31

The objective of the Hall of Fame is to honour those persons who have achieved extraordinary distinction in the sport by their participation at the highest levels of competition; and those persons who, by their efforts, have made significant contributions to the promotion, development and advancement to the sport of curling.

3M Coaching and Fox 40 Sport Official Awards

The Coaching Association of Canada recognizes the contribution of coaches, administrators and officials working at all levels of sport.  Winners receive a $1000 coach education bursary; runners-up receive a $500 bursary and are honoured at the Coaching Awards Dinner. The Investors Group Community Sport Administrator Award recognizes the contribution to a community sport program made by a dedicated volunteer in a administrative capacity.  The winner receives a $1000 Guaranteed Investment Certificate.
